The Vegan Kind box

This month, I was sent a box from The Vegan Kind to review, which bills itself as "the UK's first monthly lifestyle subscription box for vegans".

In case you can't see from the picure, it included: a small badge, a Crystal Spring travel deodorant, a box of Clearspring miso bouillon paste, a Living Naturally soapnut sample bag, a bag of Goody Good Stuff sweets, some samples of Qi tea and a sachet of Vegg egg yolk replacement.

As I wrote about in a previous blog post, I've tried the Vegg before and really liked it, so I was very happy to find it in the box! As an undergraduate student many years ago, I also tried soapnuts to do my laundry and liked them a lot for getting out light soiling in my clothes, but found them less useful for heavier soiling. However, the sample pack did come with a sheet of suggested ways of using soapnuts in different ways, so I might give those a go to see if they might be more use in the future. All of the other products are ones I've not tried before so it will be nice to give them a go and see what they're like.

The box also came with a list of discount codes to use for buying products which came in the box in the future as well as a recipe card for slow cooker leek and potato soup, which sounds nice, but unfortuately as I don't have a slow cooker, I don't think I'll be making that any time soon. A nice touch is the fact that they donate a small amount to charity each month for every box sold, with this month's charity being Farplace Animal Rescue, a no kill animal sanctuary in County Durham providing help to animals rejected elsewhere.

At just £12.95 per box including postage and packaging, I think I'll be sticking with this box for a little while yet to see what they're like. It's an especially good deal for me up here in Scotland, where it can sometimes be harder to get hold of new or specialist vegan products, and a great chance to try a few new and different things each month. Plus each box is a surprise as to what you get! If you want to try one out for yourself, you can sign up online on their website.
